Since 1993, ChildFund International has been working in Belarus fulfilling its mission creating opportunities for children in Belarus to achieve their full potential, and providing practical tools for positive changes to children, families and communities.
During the past decade, jointly with state social services, NGOs and international partners ChildFund Belarus implemented over 100 projects and programs on child protection, child and youth development, NGO capacity building, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS prevention, mitigating the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster, and volunteer activity development.
Past donors include DCOF, USAID, SDC, SIDA, UNICEF, World Learning, Open Society Institute, etc.
Within the region ChildFund-Belarus pioneered more than 60 innovative services including parenting education and parents’ associations, peer education, social interactive theater, inclusive education, day care and respite care for children with disabilities, life skills education and social adaptation for institutionalized orphans, etc.
In 1997 ChildFund Belarus was awarded the Leo Tolstoy Golden Award, the most prestigious award of the International Association of Children’s Funds, for its activity in Belarus.
